GUEST SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY:

Pastor Dexter Thomas was born in the twin Island republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

 
He is the 7th from a family of 8 and was legally blind from birth.
 
He completed his bachelor degree in ministerial theology at Oakwood College in Huntsville Alabama.
 
From there he attended Andrews University where he earned a masters degree in systematic theology.
 
He later moved to Berkeley California where he matriculated at the American Baptist seminary of the West, earning a Masters degree with  emphasis in divinity.
 
He's currently working on his doctorate of ministry degree at the San Francisco theological seminary.

He serves as the associate pastor of the Grand Avenue Seventh Day Adventist church in Oakland and directs the Empowerment ministries a congregation in downtown Oakland he founded for the dispossessed.

He has preached throughout North America, Canada and the Caribbean.

He is the author of "From Rags to Ruin: Stories and Sermons by a street Preacher. Empathy, Empowerment and a radical Vision."
